ABSTRACT

Lu-177 prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) has been increasingly used for treatment of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer. It is effective in pain palliation for bone metastasis and improves patient performance. Lu-177 PSMA treatment achieved a PSA decline of 50% or more in 44-60% of patient series. According to a meta-analysis, Lu-177 PSMA treatment led to longer survival and caused fewer adverse effects than third-line treatment options. In this review, we discuss several specific issues about timing, practical aspects, side effects, and response to the therapy.

Keywords:
Prostate cancer, radionuclide treatment, theranostics, PSMA
