ABSTRACT
Recently, single-photon emission tomography method has replaced the two-dimensional scan of the lung ventilation/perfusion imaging. By this way, the diagnostic accuracy of ventilation-perfusion scintigraphy improved, especially in the diagnosis of pulmonary embolism. However, pulmonary angiography with computed tomography has now become the preferred imaging test to assess pulmonary embolism in many institutions. Recently developed hybrid imaging techniques have brought together the outstanding features of both methods and thus obtain significant clinical advantages.
