ABSTRACT
Breast cancer is a major disease with high morbidity and mortality in women worldwide. Mainly; surgery, neoadjuvant/ adjuvant chemotherapy, radiotherapy, endocrin therapy and targeted therapy are the treatment modalities used. Maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) and ΔSUVmax are the most used radiopharmaceutical uptake parameters for tumor imaging with positron emission tomography/computerized tomography (PET/CT). Changes in tumor metabolic activity have been shown with numerous studies to be an early indicator of treatment effectiveness, mainly in the neoadjuvant setting, for breast cancer. PET Response Criteria in Solid Tumors and European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer criteria are used for semiquantitative evaluation of tumor response in metastatic setting. Besides the F-18 fludeoxyglucose, various radiopharmaceuticals are utilized for tumor metabolism with different aspects.
