ABSTRACT

Nuclear medicine is a discipline being used unsealed radioactive source in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders. Radiopharmaceuticals are administered directly into the patient for the diagnosis or therapy of disease. Thus, patient becomes a radiation source for a while. Protection from unnecessary radiation exposure of the persons around radioactive patient is essential. Effective doses for the radioactive patients and people around during frequent performed nuclear diagnostic tests are reported in the previously published studies. It was aimed to present of the radiation safety process related with the patients who applied radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic purpose in this paper.
