Abstract

Nuclear Medicine is a multidisciplinary field that incorporates both nuclear medicine physics and radiopharmacy sciences. Radiation workers in Nuclear Medicine, such as Health Physicists (Medical Physicists), Radiopharmacists, and Technologist/Technicians, are technical staff who work directly with radiation. Although job descriptions for health physicists have been defined by the Ministry of Health, no specific description has been provided for those in nuclear medicine. Similarly, there are no job descriptions for radiopharmacists and nuclear medicine technicians. This article reviews the roles and responsibilities of medical physicists worldwide and seeks to define these roles and responsibilities for medical physicists in our country. Likewise, recommended job descriptions for radiopharmacists and technicians are also provided.
