ABSTRACT

It has been an important issue to estimate the absorbed dose in tumorous tissue as the radioisotope treatment techniques have been developed in nuclear medicine. Dosimetric approaches starting with estimation of the dose in the thyroid tumor have been developed and applied to different treatments with the guidelines being established. Dosimetric calculations have been done with mathematical models, however nowadays, it became more important to do these calculations for each of the patient. In this manuscript, the history of dosimetry, the applied methods, as well as the weak and strong points of the methods are mentioned.
